Golden Japanese Forest Grass, Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’

One of the more unique varieties Landscape Alaska has ever carried, this subtly variegated grass enjoys partial shade and spreads slowly through rhizomatic growth. While beautifully colored with light green and yellow variegation near the edges, the changes are subtle and will change in intensity depending on how much sun the blades receive. Perhaps the most striking feature of the Japanese Forest Grass is that the long blades have a tendency to all fall in the same direction, especially if planted at an angle or along the top of a wall or box which can be cascaded over, giving the impression of a golden waterfall.
