Gooseberries, Ribes, various types
The famous gooseberry. If you haven’t tried it, you are missing a succulent experience. Some people prefer them underripe and on the greenside, while others love them dried. Of course, the juicy ripe berry hangs plump and appealing on the branch waiting to be plucked and eaten. Large, spiny, multi-stemmed shrubs, the gooseberry is blessed with serrated, club-shaped leaves that change colors throughout the season. Hardy and delicious, we do our best not to eat the berries while we water these beauties, but sometimes we can’t resist.
