Japanese Maple, Red Emperor

One of the most reliable Japanese maples on the market, the Red Emperor begins its spring with deep burgundy foliage which lightens very slowly throughout the year until, in the fall, it is bright red. A plant that is hardy and beautiful, it’s height at 10 years reaches 15 to 18 feet with a slightly narrower width. We recommend wrapping it in the winter to protect the branches from snow and ice damage, and have seen this particular maple thrive in Southeast Alaska.
