Perfect for gardens in cool, damp places (sound familiar?), the Ramapo rhododendron is a tough, gorgeous, dwarf variety that features small dusky blue-green leaves and vibrant tresses of purple flowers. Among the very first flowers to bloom in the spring, when in full bloom a healthy Ramapo’s blooms will often obscure almost the entire shrub. Preferring slightly acidic soil, make sure to water deeply and well for its first growing season after planting to establish a healthy root system. A Landscape Alaska favorite, we nearly always have these in stock and overwinter them regularly in our greenhouse.
