Native to the American Southeast in wet and cold places like mountain tops, this hardy ancient tree will grow in submerged soils and blooms in July. Fall colors are absolutely spectacular and it will grow 20′ in 10 years. A bird attractor, the Tupelo, commonly called ‘Sour Gum’, is a stately tree with a straight trunk and requires male and female trees to set fruit.
