Introduced in 1886, this French lilac has never waned in popularity. A shrub growing to about 10′ tall and 8′ wide, this sun-loving lilac has no notable bug issues and will pull in the hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. If you’ve ever been in Juneau in July ,you’ll see the huge lilac hedges near Douglas bridge, and as breathtaking as it is, this shrub can do even better as a hedge in your neck of the woods. Try grabbing 4 or 5 of them and grow them into each other for a wall of beauty every season.
